Bat Crazy!
Getting a lot of questions on bats because USA Baseball has changed their bat standards for 2018. We are not part of USA Baseball who has their bat standard, nor are we a part of USSSA Baseball who have their own standard, or any other governing body. It gets very confusing with these national organizations, and SWBL decided a few years back we do not want to be restrictive and force folks to use (purchase) only one approved standard. So here is the SWBL bat regulation:

Any bat that has the approval signatures or marks of any of the national youth baseball governing associations, such as Little League, USA Baseball, USSSA, Cal Ripkin, Babe Ruth, etc. may be used as long as the bat is fit for use. (Not dented, damaged, graphics and markings worn off, not altered in any way) For 15U bats may not exceed a -5 drop. All wood bats fit for use are legal.

The Basics

Southwest Baseball League (SWBL) is an independent baseball league for boys and girls age 4 to 15.  We are a not for profit organization run by a dedicated group of volunteers known as the Directors. The League offers two levels of play, Draft and Select.

The Draft League is geared toward recreation and instruction. It is for players of all skills and abilities and is especially a good place to start for those players new to baseball or with limited experience. All players who register will be placed on a team.

The Select League is team oriented and plays at a higher competitive level than draft. Players seek out teams and try out for positions. Select teams may also be involved with playing in tournaments locally and out of town. Check the "Looking" section of our website to find teams who are seeking players.  Players may also be posted in "Looking" who are seeking a team.

SWBL is the only El Paso baseball league that offers Draft and Select and is the largest league offering registration to individual players for Draft League.

Along with the regular game schedule and playoffs, SWBL also hosts in Spring its annual All Stars Competitions and Games.  On this weekend the teams choose their best players to compete in events of hitting, pitching and running, along with the All Star Games.

SWBL offers to ballplayers of all abilities opportunity to play baseball no matter ability or experience, fun events such as All Stars and playoffs, all in an atmosphere where good sportsmanship and proper youth sports conduct is demanded by all participants.

For more information on SWBL please be sure to check out out FAQ section located on top menu bar.
